Smartphones to Overtake Feature Phones in U.S. by... →
How much will the least expensive smartphone plans cost when this happens? Do the phone companies team up, because if there could definitely be 1 or 2 phone network styles that they team up on to push down cost. When I looked at the cost of paying for a families worth of smartphones, it is crazy expensive. To be honest if we had a stronger data network, we could do VOIP which should be even...

I’d still like a range extender, but 6 minute charges seem fine. Not to mention, over the coming years we could bring the charge time down.

My ideal used to be an Audi diesel. Now its going to be the sportiest electric sedan I can find. Maybe they can add a diesel on top. The Leaf is pure electric, the Chevy Volt is a hybrid. If I could get Leaf performance with a Volt style hybrid to extend the range, I’d be happy.

Brace yourselves…the government told us a lie. WikiLeaks revealed it. They have the documents to prove it. Apparently, more than two people have died in Iraq. The sad part here is that I am numb. I find out that the government has been lying to me, and not a white lie, a 15,000 casualty lie, and the most I can manage is a blog post. Sigh.

I hope this spreads across the country. I’d love to be able to rent somebody’s Ferrari. It would be good for both of us. The Ferrari gets less expensive for them, and I didn’t buy a Ferrari.

The Friday Podcast: Our Listeners Vs. The Budget... →
Episode 209 is a great episode of the Planet Money Podcast. Along with that is a link to a Budget simulator. The goal is to get the deficit to 60% of GDP by 2018. I got it to 47% while getting in most of the things I care about, without going crazy. Every voter should play with this because it at least adds perspective to the difficulty of balancing the budget. It does ignore political realities...

The problem with digg and reddit for that matter is digging, upvoting, burying, downvoting does not make clear whether you agree/disagree, or if you are voting on the basis of importance, or what parts of something you like dislike. I’m sure by digg 5 or 6 it will be resolved unless someone beats them to the punch.

How Rich is Rich? The Rich-O-Meter - The Wealth... →
By Robert Frank
How much does it take to be “rich?”
The answer is of course subjective, varying by region and by individual definitions. To those in New York, Greenwich, or Atherton, having a million dollars (or even a few million) would never be considered “rich.” In most of the rest of the world, it would be plenty.
To get into most private banks and wealth-management firms today, you...

App Store searchability (I sent this to Apple's...
As many apps as there are, many of the apps do the same thing. It would be helpful to be able to search on the basis of what you want an app to do, then be able to compare apps on the basis of their other capabilities, price, and other factors I haven’t thought of. I’m sure the developers would be willing to fill in a chart on what the apps are useful for and if not, the users will be...
